French land artist Saype did it again, he just finished his 10th step of his worldwide “Beyond Walls” project. This time he visited Benin in West Africa focussing on slavery. First in Ouidah, village of Abouta, one of the main slave trade hub in Africa. This was the starting point of a long one-way crossing for millions of Africans across the Atlantic. Vilvoorde is an industrial city next to Brussels and squeezed between the river Zenne and the canal Brussels-Antwerp. If you expect a grey, boring city, you’re wrong. Those who walked or cycled through Vilvoorde last summer passed a lot of street art. The city has over 50 different works by national and international artists to share.

Voor velen is 2020 een jaar om snel te vergeten, waarin het corona-beestje de hele wereld gijzelde. Ondanks deze globale pandemie zijn de Belgische artiesten er toch in geslaagd er een kleurrijk jaar van te maken. In heel België kwamen er nieuwe murals, vloerschilderingen, paste ups, stencils en andere interventies in het straatbeeld erbij. Street Art Antwerp deelde in december op de Instagrampagina een selectie van 100 werken van Belgische makelij en liet volgers stemmen. Hieruit komen de 30 finalisten, vanaf vandaag tem 31 januari kan iedereen zijn stem uitbrengen via een internet poll.
